TalkTalk launches 24Mbps broadband deal

ISP says TalkTalk Pro is £200 cheaper than BT

Carrie-Ann Skinner

TalkTalk has unveiled a new broadband package which it claims is over £200 cheaper than the equivalent BT package.

TalkTalk Pro, which costs £14.99 per month, offers broadband speeds of up to 24Mbps and unlimited download limits along with a free 'N' wireless router and free calls to UK landlines, as well as 0845 and 0870 numbers.

The deal is subject to an 18-month contract and users will also be required to pay a monthly line rental of £11.25.

The ISP says the deal is over £150 cheaper than similar offerings from Virgin and £300 less than Sky's Unlimited package.

TalkTalk's Tristia Clarke said: "Once again TalkTalk is challenging the market and providing unbeatable value by offering a premium broadband product at a much lower price than its competitors' packages."

TalkTalk says the package will appeal to 'Digital Extroverts' or early adopters of new technologies and services, who regularly upload content online and view the internet as essential to their daily lives.

Remember that Talktalk uses the old BT copper wire lines to your house. If you live more than a stones throw from the local exchange forget the speed they state. I've paid for 8Mb from them since it started and never get more than an average of about 1.8Mb download speed. That said its still the cheapest for all in line rental, B/band and 24/7 calls but I won't upgrade from a service they can't currently provide.

I am with Tiscali (now part of Talktalk) I pay less £19-99 for B/band 24/7 calls AND line rental! So not much of an offer

Alan Haigh must have a dodgy line as I have been with talk talk for nearly three years and I get 8mb download speeds on my 8mb connection.

I am also only paying £19.99 a month for B/band all calls and line rental!

That said if Talk Talk are offering this package then it shows how much Sky and BT are ripping people off.

I would recomend Talk Talk any day.

As far as the speed goes then it does depend on the state of your line as well as how far you are from your local telephone exchange supposedly.

I am not close to mine I know people living closer getting less speed on their broadband.

I can't work it out from what I can tell this theory is pretty hit and miss.

P.S if you complain about your speeds to your ISP they can boost your speed from their end.

This is how Talk Talk can offer this as a £ 4.00 option on their other packages.
